I'm new to RKE retrofits, so this was a gamble. It went so well, I bought another for my other vehicle.
Meanwhile I did sample a competing brand, but returned that.
The difference is that this Bulldog has a top quality harness with thick insulation and a quality suede rubber feel to the clicker.

Update:
- The unit worked for only 3 weeks, but then became unresponsive to either fob.
- I did bring in another unit from another disty channel and, although both the 1st and 2nd were retail boxed and labeled as KE1702, they were different units and different pack-out. The one from sold via Amazon has a double row connector, the other one has a single row. Aside, the harness on the 2nd had more fuses and there is some sort of indicator light included. Fobs are different material although same shape and buttons.
- Because my 2nd procured box has a different connector from the 1st, I could not plug the 2nd into my first install to get an instant fix. Therefore I ordered yet a 3rd one, hoping it matches the 1st.
- When the 3rd box came in, I examined everything for discrepancies between all my procurements and easily spotted some.
- Plugging the 3rd box in to the installed harness of #1, the system once again was functioning. However, a week later, the door locks stopped responding. This was traced to two blown fuses: the one supplied in the harness and directly feeding the RKE internal relays and also a 30-amp fuse further up in the vehicles network. So not only did the RKE stop but it also took out the power to the entire door lock system including manual switches.
- Because of the technical failure of the product, cascading into additional money and time spent, and my observation that the manufacturing and supplying chain is out of control, I've reduced my rating from 5-stars down to 2.If you are mechanically inclined, install the new keyless entry system yourself.
How To Install A Bulldog Keyless Entry System Model Ke1702
- Read the instructions. Not all models of keyless entry systems are the same, so be sure to read the instructions so you know the exact limits and specs of your system.
- Disconnect your truck's battery. This is crucial and will prevent any electric discharge and possible shock later in the process.
- Attach the keyless entry system to the underside of the dash. Make sure it is securely fastened with zip ties. Also fasten any stray wires with zip ties to insure they won't come loose. Be sure the system is placed where it will not interfere with other systems, such as air conditioning or breaks.
- Consult your truck owner's manual to find which color wires control which door locking mechanisms. Once you have located these wires, solder them to the appropriate wires on your keyless entry system. Tape them with electrical tape to insure the wires stay together and maintain a connection.
- The keyless entry system requires a constant power supply. One close source of power is the ignition switch wiring. Locate this using your owner's manual and solder the red power wire from your entry system to the ignition switch.
